It wraps around me
like the blankets I just threw off-
this gift I give to myself
with an alarm set early.
Red clouds turning orange,
then yellow,
don't make a sound,
and neither does steam
rising from coffee
already waiting for my favourite cup.
and for five more minutes
(maybe ten, please, ten)
I'll stand in this doorway
and watch the world wake up,
soaking in the silence.
Saving it for later,
so I can take it out
stuff it in my ears like cotton
and block out my crazy world.

awesome. the silence at that kindof time is indeed very peaceful. i just never, ever have the energy to face it and explain myself. it feels too much like free time. and free time is my enemy.
